Interior options survey

How did everyone answer? Seems they were narrowed on leather/vegan-leather options. I'm either way or don't really care. I'd hope they figured out what to offer before this, tho. Kinda odd.

VinFast - VF 8 - Images and videos shown contain pre-production level vehicles. Actual production vehicles may differ slightly
Dear SHale,

At VinFast, we care about our customers and want to hear from you. We are working hard to bring you the highest quality products available and want to collect your thoughts about the interior materials of our electric vehicles.

We developed a short 5-minute survey asking you about your interior preferences to better understand our dedicated VinFast customers and to provide you the best product possible.

Your feedback is valuable to us as we continue to enhance your experience with VinFast.
No idea how wide this email went. Could be only those who converted to binding purchase orders?

I will check my email…mostly neutral.
If they go all vegan, the Eco <> Plus model price difference should be narrowed.
Thanks for the link. Definitely interesting to see them considering different materials so late into their development cycle, but I am glad they are open to customer preferences always.

I‘ve got the survey and filled it out in favor of vegan leather (assuming like they mentioned that er is no difference in appearance and feeling).

Even if it the leather material is a minor thing its a good sign that they try to get in contact with reservation holders
(we made 2 reservations for the VF9 (both with Vinfirst included)).

There are other things about Vinfast that concerns me more which is the reason
why we also have a reservation for the R1S as these two are the only real
EV 7-seater options for us (the Tesla X isnt really a fullsize SUV in my opinion and
its also way overpriced…)

I’ll start a separate thread about these things which concerns me personally.

I didn’t like the survey. Sometimes vegan leather is made in ways that are the opposite of eco-friendly, so the choice is not so simple. That said, I said I highly value eco-friendly choices because I do - and I also like leather. Hopefully the leather comes from animals that provide food, so it doesn’t involve killing animals just for the upholstery.

One thing to consider here: I’m not sure about the intention behind the survey - is it because of being environmentally responsible or because of costs? So far what I have read is: even the best quality vegan leather is cheaper to produce/process than real leather. And this lower cost let’s me guess that VF goes with „vegan leather“. (if they do so the official explanation for this will be of course the „overwhelming support“ for vegan in the survey….). To be fair: VF wouldn’t be the only company to do this if they do - at least Rivian does vegan leather as well...

btw: there isn’t such a thing like „vegan“ leather and therefore shouldn’t named as leather. Im not generally against this vegan thing if it has a high quality and durability - but I think it shouldn’t be called „leather“. The definition of leather is: „a material made from the skin of an animal“. But maybe the materials are sourced from plastic cows…?
