City Edition Vf8

Anybody else get an email from Vinfast regarding a ‘new’ VF8 model ‘City Edition’?
Has only an 180 mile estimated range and only option is to buy the battery. For the VF8 Plus a whopping $62,500. And that’s before a $1200 destination charge and any interior color but black is another $900. Yikes.
seems these are included in the 999 vehicles on their way.
Really confused on why they’d think we’d go for this?

Well. I’m not going quite that far. But I am doing a hard pass on this option. A very odd option out of the blue.
I just hope not all 999 are this new trim.
Did not receive email yet. There is no mention of the “City model” on their site either.
I have not got that email either. ONly email I got was the RSVP for the Test Drives next week. I RSVPd for the 10th here in San Diego. If you are in Huntington Beach on the !0th you can go to the in person event where they will release the new website with the community forum.

Seems only those with a reservation prior to 5/30 or maybe those who converted to an order.
I did a Google search and found nothing.

Thank you! Though I’m also a VinFirst member, didn’t get email, and I’ve converted to an order too.

Vf8?
Yes :) I live on the east coast though if that has to do with anything,
that is odd you didn't get the email as well. Perhaps they go out in batches? You could always call 'em.

Will do, thanks!
„city edition“ ??? with 180 miles ??? muahahahaha… come on VF and be honest: this isn’t a feature - its a bug! maybe supply chain issues or the worst case technical issues. Supply chain issues are understandable right now but be honest about it! $3k less for 180 miles is a joke. Would never buy an EV with such a range as long as there isn’t a charging station at every corner…

the range doesn't bother me THAT much. My daily commute is 25 miles and rarely do anything more. BUT at that price? No battery lease? A trim/model we have never heard from and is totally absent from their web site? Somebody on reddit is saying all 999 coming will be this 'city' model. I sure hope not. Kinda was hoping for a December delivery.

I'm not THAT much in a hurry to get a model I know nothing about.

I feel that this guy is right that all of them are the “city edition”. I think they wanted do stick to their promise to deliver the first cars in 2022 and had to make some compromises to achieve this (either because they are lacking the parts for full battery packs or they have technical/engineering problems to achieve the promised ranges).

Anyway: the chance that we’ll buy a VF as our first EV is rapidly decreasing for the last few months. Really not impressed by them since we made the Vinfirst reservations…

Lmao what???

I wonder if that's the model they mentioned in the live stream last month (I mentioned it in my post)... It's weird BC they said they weren't prioritizing that one..things much have changed. That price is ridiculous for what it is tho.

I'm a pioneer myself and converted to an order. I couldn't believe what I was reading when I saw this message. As for me, I'm not in a hurry as long as I can get my purchase order for the regular vf8 before April 15 for the tax credit I'll be alright.

I just stopped by the Yorkdale location on my way to a meeting and spoke to a senior sales advisor there. He said the city edition only affects the USA. They haven't sorted what Canada is getting yet and "not to worry".

That's all I've got for now but he did give me his card so if we've got other questions we can reach out to him.
i want to know the specs of the batteries for the vf8 city edition vs vf eco 80 kilowatt hour and the vf8 plus 87 kilowatt hour ?

My guess is its is the same as the normal variant but just software limited to only get the 180 miles.
