Anybody else concerned?

Here it is middle of Oct and still no official order system available online yet. No final prices and really no updates. That was one of the 'benefits' of being a vinfirst/pioneer; we'd get updates directly. Nope.

I know the initial 5k production units began approx 3 weeks ago. They'd need to be here really soon for December customer deliveries. I've converted my reservation to an 'order', so expect to be in the first wave(s) of deliveries. Hopefully?

Not even sure what the hold up is on vehicle prices? Not like a lot can change in a few months. I 'think' my VF8 plus with smaller battery is $48k(ish) and that was from a different web site way in the beginning and doesn't include destination charges.

So much for communication.

I'm not worried. I feel like if I could order I would just be worried about delivery 😂

I do wish they had a more robust and engaging customer relations program. Their customer service is great at responding fast to questions and being incredibly polite(if not all that informative). But they need to develop engagement to reel in millennials and younger. Events, webinars, interactive presence on social media. Give me a long seductive dance that keeps me enthralled and wants to share info with others.

As you noted they do respond when questioned: but only with vague "coming soon". One of the supposed benefits of doing a reservation (vinfirst) was that they would communicate more frequently. That certainly hasn't happened. And now they say 'customer deliveries by year end' but there is no order system, no final prices. Heck, they don't even have EPA numbers yet.

I guess soon.......

The days go by and no (significant) news about/from VF. On youtube one still can find videos from auto-shows (Paris) where they focus already VF7 and VF6 without any real VF8 and VF9 on the road. Then there is some Ironman marketing stuff (which i’m not interested in at all). But there is still nothing tangible about final specs and drivability of the VF8 and VF9 models. Even from the first customers (or should i write „customers“ ?) there isnt anything to see/hear. I‘m convinced meanwhile that these first „customers“ are handpicked test drivers with an agreement that they are only allowed to report (negative things) to the company. Most information still comes from vietnamese people which I don’t consider serious/unbiased at this point. I‘m especially curious about the timeline of their ADAS features - I fear meanwhile that they adopt the Tesla model (pay now and get it via OTA in a few years…). Until now I was disappointed by their lack of transparency and the lack of confirming the promises they made regarding technology - but meanwhile this disappointment is growing into frustration about their strategy/behavior. My skepticism that I will drive a VF9 at the end of 2023 (if ever) has grown a lot in the past few weeks… We are not in a hurry to get a new car (ours has a mileage of 31k miles) so we discuss more and more to delay our transition to an EV for one or two years (while waiting for a message by Rivian that our reservation of the R1S can be converted to an order and saving the additional $35k during these additional one or two years). After giving free rein to my frustration in this post I now feel a bit better… ;)

they have been saying that for quite a while now. It seems to move. The biggest thing is they promised vinfirst/pioneers we'd get updates. We don't. Not a peep. Disappointing.

Anyone notice how the initial production of 5k VF8 a few weeks ago there was been zero word on progress? Zero. 😢

My take is this, companies do what companies do. They all do the same thing. Every forum I have EVER been on many people complain about the same thing… “communication”. I have come to realize that manufacturing is hard and to communicate that is even harder for these companies. I am not saying it’s good but it is how it works. It is what it is, the car will come when it comes. If your not in a hurry then you wait. If you are then buy something else, if the communication is a problem then go to a traditional dealer.

I only mention communication because of this:

Exclusive VinFast access: As a VIP, you can always be among the first to be in the know. Our VinFirst members receive VinFast news and promotions first.

That so isn't true. Not a bit. But as you say it is what it is. I'm not in a big hurry, but please don't land on 12/23 I have surgery that day.

This last year I have been in waiting lists for multiple vehicles that have come in or almost here, Mini SE, Ford Bronco, Rivian. Ford is a dumpster fire, mini is just average with very little communication but meets expectations, Rivian is better than anyone else but not perfect.

this is probably ranking just below Rivian experience but it could change as we get closer.

for context, mini is my sons, bronco was mine until ford was not doing anything right so I replaced with Rivian, VF is my wife’s but I love cars so she lets me do the ordering haha.
Has anybody noticed vinfast is now saying 'early Jan' for deliveries vs what they were saying 'December'......

I haven’t seen this so far but I can’t claim that i’m surprised about that. I would rather be surprised if they can stick to January. Despite fancy presentations on several auto shows and bragging about their next amazing models (6 and 7) there is nothing to hear from them. They seem to make some progress regarding interior build quality of the (still!) pre production models of the VF8 and VF9 but nothing new regarding the tech below the surface. I guess that they are struggling with some basic features like HP, acceleration, charging speed, ADAS, Range). Or (hopefully not) the worst case: they’re struggling with safety of their cars. If everything would be fine and going as planned I see no reason to not tell the world about it.
I haven’t seen this so far
it was in articles linked to the LA Auto show. Kinda not surprised, but would be nice if they let us know directly.

Not sure they are struggling. The initial production has begun a month ago and perhaps some are on the way as we speak. Testing won't occur until production units land in the US, is my guess. OTA will cover any straggling tech issue or options not available at launch.

So far, tho the 0-60 for the VF8 is real life is not 5.3 seconds. That is a worry.

but, yes, they do seem to not be able to communicate with the vinfast pioneers. The ones who will be getting the vehicles first. Kinda odd, kinda dumb. But oh well.

What they’re regularly communicate to me via email is to reserve one of their cars - I have already two vinfirst reservations and get these emails anyway...

Happy thanksgiving guys!

I can't speak for the US market but here in Canada we were supposed to have our monthly 'client connection' live stream where we receive updates and ask questions.

It was unfortunately canceled today and I only found out because I tried to connect to the event a few minutes ago by clicking my link. It said the event doesn't exist or has been removed.

I called vinfast about it and was told while it has been canceled the rep I spoke to couldn't tell me why (and he also doesn't know).

I'm not worried about that, ish happens. But I wonder if it's in relation to what you mentioned about about the change in shipping eta?
